In 2019 we are celebrating 22 seasons of the Chill Pass. The pass now gives skiers and snowboarders access to 12 ski areas across the South Island in the Waitaki, Mackenzie, Canterbury, Kaikoura and Nelson Lakes Districts. As well as the Chill Pass we offer guided tours to equip people with knowledge to travel safely in the backcountry, plus the Craigieburn Haute Route, an epic multi-day journey across the Craigieburn Range. At Chill HQ in Christchurch there is a shop where you can pick up essential items for using the classic New Zealand rope tows, spending a few nights in the mountain lodges or heading outside the ski area boundaries. We also have gear available for hire.
The Chill Pass
Chill Passes allow you to ski at up to 12 ski areas across the South Island. The flexibility to ski in the Waitaki, Mackenzie, Canterbury, Kaikoura and Nelson Lakes Districts is what makes the Chill Pass truly New Zealand's ultimate multi-mountain ski and snowboard pass. There are two types of passes, the Season Pass with unlimited access during the season, and the Travel Pass with a set number of clips for skiing and non-ski day options.
Chill Alpine Guided Tours
All of the Chill ski areas access great backcountry terrain. A number of ski area tows finish at a peak or the ridge line, opening a variety of terrain choices. In association with Anna Keeling Guiding we offer courses to equip skiers and snowboarders with the knowledge and skills required to travel in the backcountry. Also on offer is the Craigieburn Haute Route, a multi-day alpine journey from Craigieburn Valley to Mt Olympus.
