Chill was formed in 1997 with the creation of the Chill Pass. A passion for the outdoors and collaboration with others has seen Chill grow to what it is today. Chill is a reputable name in adventure tourism in New Zealand, and has grown to include urban and dirt bike riding with guided tours both in Christchurch and in the Craigieburn Range.
Chill HQ is located in the new Awly Building on Durham Street in Central Christchurch. Here you will find a great range of bikes for sale and hire as well as gear to equip you for both cycling and alpine adventures. For people wanting to explore the city by bike, with a guide or on their own, this is the perfect starting location.
Chill is a hub for both local and visiting adventure enthusiasts, gearing up for an adventure into the outdoors on a bike, signing up for a snow safety course or the legendary Craigieburn Haute Route, picking up a Chill Pass or buying a harness and nutcracker to hit the rope tows at the local club ski areas, just to name a few of the things that happen here.
The Chill team are all about inspiring people to explore. They work with local businesses to assist in building a spirit of adventure, be it a new way to hit the daily commute, or an epic journey in the mountains. They happily share their own knowledge of the unique pockets of Christchurch and the Southern Alps. Along with a passion for the outdoors comes the commitment to sustainability. Chill support organisations working towards protecting our precious environment. Chill is proud to have Qualmark accreditation, NZ Tourism's official quality assurance.

In 2019 we are celebrating 22 seasons of the Chill Pass. The pass now gives skiers and snowboarders access to 12 ski areas across the South Island in the Waitaki, Mackenzie, Canterbury, Kaikoura and Nelson Lakes Districts. As well as the Chill Pass we offer guided tours to equip people with knowledge to travel safely in the backcountry as well as the Craigieburn Haute Route, an epic multi-day journey across the Craigieburn Range. At Chill HQ in Christchurch there is a shop where you can pick up essential items for using the classic New Zealand Rope Tows, spending a few nights in the mountain lodges or heading outside the ski area boundaries. We also have gear available for hire.
